Online donations:
For online giving, donors may visit the Brookings Foundation website at brookingsfoundation.org and follow the directions to make their gift online.

Donations will be accepted, managed and used for the Her Turn scholarship fund at the Brookings Foundation. The Brookings Foundation is an IRS approved 501c3 and has been serving the Brookings area since 1977.

Scholarship applications will be distributed within the Brookings School District to middle school girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Her Turn is an organization specifically for young girls to participate in sporting opportunities. Statistically, girls have fewer opportunities to get involved, are less likely to play in the first place, and are much more likely to drop out earlier if they do. That being said, we use “girls” in a gender expansive way. We welcome cis, trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and girl-identified persons.

Her Turn has an advisory committee assembled of extremely compassionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable community members. This committee will be responsible for narrowing down the applications to find young girls within the Brookings community who would benefit most from an experience like this.

Scholarships will be awarded for the South Dakota State University summer camps in May of 2024.

Her Turn scholarship recipients will be able to choose from any South Dakota State women’s sport camps. Currently, sports offered include basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and wrestling.

Her Turn will work individually with families to provide transportation and determine what equipment is needed.

Her Turn is affiliated with the Brookings Foundation, which is an IRS approved 501c3 organization.

At this time, Her Turn will be responsible for distributing applications to middle school girls within the Brookings community who qualify for our program.
